Roatan is a small island in Honduras with beautiful beaches and crystal clear water. It’s great for a short weekend trip, whether you are into getting some R&R or going scuba diving, this place is perfect for both!
There are many resorts in the island, some better than others, most of them beachfront so you can enjoy the beach and sand. I recommend staying in West Bay, because that’s where the best beach is.
The best thing about Roatan is all the activities you can do in the island. Scuba diving, snorkeling, parasailing, kayaking, and boating are some of the water activities, there is also zip-lining and Gumbalimba Park, and last but not least, Roatan has a very popular nightlife. This was the first time we both went parasailing and I have to say it was an incredible experience! At first it’s a little scary, but once you’re up there it’s breathtaking!
We stayed at the Infinity Bay Resort, supposed to be one of the best resorts in the island for the price range, although we did have a couple of hiccups when getting our room. However, the staff outside is really nice and helpful. You can use the hotel’s kayaks to go out on the water for free.
Beautiful sands and clear water.
Awesome snorkeling and scuba diving.
You can get a 1 hour massage on the sand for about $20 (more like a back rubber-but that works)
It can get very crowded with tourists during the high season and when the cruise ships are in.
Some things are somewhat pricey. The good thing is that everything is negotiable. So for any of the water activities try to bargain as much as possible.
